About me

Pere Bujosa is a Mallorcan multi-instrumentalist, double bassist, composer, educator and bandleader. His artistic practice moves between contemporary jazz, Balearic folk heritage, electronics and free improvisation, developing a distinctive musical language in which rhythm, texture and Mediterranean memory play a central role.

His music is driven by a deep curiosity for experimentation and by an interest in the possibilities of jazz as a space for creation. Polyrhythmic textures, timbral exploration and improvisation coexist with melodic writing and a contemporary approach to tradition. This perspective is particularly evident in his work as a bandleader and in his recorded projects.

His current project, Illes Sonores, Vol. 1, explores the relationship between contemporary jazz and the musical heritage of the Balearic Islands. Built around the classic piano, double bass and drums format, the project incorporates influences from Balearic folk music, modern jazz, electronics and free improvisation, creating a sonic world between tradition and experimentation.

He studied at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona and later at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he completed his Master's degree in jazz. His studies and international experience have broadened his artistic perspective and contributed to the development of his distinctive musical language.

His career has taken him to stages across Spain, Europe and Asia. In 2022, he toured India, performing in Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi, and in 2023 he performed in Indonesia. He has also appeared at festivals including Alternatilla, Ibiza Jazz, Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, Jazz Sa Pobla, Jazzalcúdia and Canarias Jazz.

Alongside his artistic career, Bujosa has been teaching at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears (CSMIB) for several years. This combination of artistic and pedagogical practice is an important part of his approach to music as a space for research, transmission and creative development.

Throughout his career, he has released several albums as a leader and received a number of awards, including the 2019 Enderrock Balears Award for Best Jazz Album for Wabi-Sabi, the Jazz Alguer Mediterrani 2021, and the Emerging Artist Award from Plataforma Jazz España in 2023.
